Structure of Higher Education & Academic Calendar in Russia
Academic year in Russia starts in September and ends in May with June examinations. There is a three-level professional education in Russian Higher Education system:
- Bachelor`s OR Specialist`s degree (4 years and 5-6 years accordingly, depending on the field)
- Master`s degree (2 years)
- Postgraduate programs (3-4 years, depending on the field)
There are also Residency programs (2-5 years, depending on the field) and Assistant Internship (2 years). Postgraduate Program is an educational level aimed at training scientific personnel. It lasts from three to four years, during which students engage in research and write a dissertation. Residency is an educational level aimed at preparing medical and pharmaceutical professionals. Assistant Internship is an educational level designed to train teaching staff in creative and performing arts.
Languages of Studies
Foreign students can study in Russian and English languages in Russia. If the student wants to study in Russian language, he/she will be offered to complete a Preparatory Course of Russian Language (Foundation course / Russian Language Course), which lasts 6-18 months. After successful completion of this course the student will be able to study in Russian language. Students can continue with Bachelor`s or Master’s programs. Important note: when the student studies in Russian medium, it costs 2-3 times less.
Admission Requirements

- International passport and high school certificate
- No mandatory IELTS/TOEFL
- Bachelor`s degree required for Master`s programs
- Some medical check-up certificates may be also required
