     The disintegration of the Soviet Union and gaining the independence of Ukraine caused essential priority changes in the branch of the higher educational system in the connections extending with the foreign partners & training of the qualified doctors. Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University began to train foreign students in 1992. At that time here studied the citizens of Russia, Romania, Pakistan, Cameroon. During ten years the amount of the foreign students did not exceed the number of twenty. It was conditioned by some objective reasons. In the times of the Soviet Union Ivano-Frankivsk region was closed for free visiting for the foreign citizens. But Ukraine as a new independ-ent country was famous for its educational services on the world market. Thanks to the University’s authorities since 2002 the amount of the foreign students has been increasing progressively. In 2008-2009 796 foreign citizens of different countries studied on the faculty.

      Now we have students from Jordan, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, India , Israel, Russia, Canada, Poland, Lebanon, Namibia, Egypt, Pakistan, Tansania, Tunis, Turkey, Turkmenistan etc.

      Today Ivano-Frankivsk Medical University is among six higher medical educational establish-ments of Ukraine, diplomas of which are recognized in Jordan, Palestine and other Oriental countries. The next step is the recognition of our university in the Kingdom of Malaysia.

      More then 50 chairs and courses provide the educational process. The Preparatory department was founded in 2003.The licensed amount of students is 300 persons .The study is carried out in two profiles: medico-biological and technical-engineering.

      There are three stages of study in Ivano-Frankivsk State Medical University:

         1. Pre-university study. It is the language study and fundamental disciplines study.
         2. Pre-diploma study on such specializations as General Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Nursery.
         3. Post-graduate study (Master’s degree courses, Clinical Internship, PhD-courses).

Ivano-Frankivsk

Ivano-Frankivsk is one of 24 oblasts in Ukraine. It is a city with important industrial, economic and scientific potential. The city has diverse light industries such as woodworking, machinery and furniture making, and food processing. It is located in the Western Ukraine, close to Lviv and Ternopil, some 150km, and 600km from Kyiv, Ukrainian capital.

There is a train station, bus station and airport with local and international flights.

Population is around 250 000 people. It's a city of very dynamic development, nice architecture, rich Ukrainian traditions and culture.

City Hall

It acquires its cross design after the reconstruction of 1929-1932. The city Hall houses the regional Museum.

The Regional Museum

It was founded in 1939 and holds 104.996 artefacts. The museum consists of several departments, including Ancient History, Modern History, Contemporary Folk Art and Nature Studies.

The Art Museum

The Art Museum is a unique treasury of the area’s fine and folk arts. Its 15.000 item collection was initiated in 1980 and now includes the splendid masterpieces of Halychyna iconography and Baroque sculpture, painting of prominent Western Ukrainian artists.

The Church of the Holy Resurrection

The church was built in Baroque style and was restored first in 1885 and then in 1995. It now belongs to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

There are many places to go and to see in Ivano-Frankivsk. You can find lots of restaurants and cafes, art-clubs and discotheques.

Besides, the city it a gateway to the Carpatian mountains, holiday resorts and national parks.

Hoverla mountain, the highest in Ukraine, is about 120 km from here. Bukovel, large modern all-year-round mountain resort is 110km away. Yaremche is the large tourist area. Along with famous resort towns Mykulychyn, Tatariv, Vorokhta it's popular tourist destionation.

You can get to Ivano-Frankivsk from Kiev via one of the convenient daily trains.

Ukraine International Airlines offers direct daily flights to Kiev from most of Western Europe’s largest cities.

In the city there is a developed network of the route taxis, so there is no problem to get to any part of the city.

Our University provides study at such specialities:

All the educational programs of the University are regulated and approved by the Ministry of Education & Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Degrees and diplomas issued to International students by the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University are legalized by the Ministry of heath of Ukraine and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

IFNMU is one of the few Medical Universities in Ukraine which is designated as a “National Medical University”by the Government of Ukraine. 

On the territory of the campus has five dormitories are designed for 1,480 seats. Dorms have a block layout and two dorms are two sets of improved design. Each dormitory resident students one by one, two and three people in the room. 
On the territory of the campus is: dining room, a sanatorium, medical center, computer room, beauty salon. One student dormitory provided by families, graduate students and undergraduates.

Safety

When student arrive to airport he/she will be met and transferred to university. At university student have orientation and welcome brief. After orientation student will be placed at university hostel. During all time of studying at university foreign students are supported by qualified team of International Department. All their needs will be satisfied with pleasure. There is very helpful consultancy for students who have educational difficulties.

All university hostels are secured and have time restrictions for guest to ensure safety and good condition of living.

The Ukrainian people are philosophical and peaceful. The most recent example being the Orange revolution, a completely peaceful demonstration by the people looking for political change. You will find that Ukrainians are very amicable and have good sense of humor. There is no racism at all. Strangers will be extremely friendly with you and be impressed that you made the effort to visit their country over their more visited neighbors.
